In a comparison with fetal bovine serum, 10% Human Platelet Lysate (HPL) from PL BioScience reshaped HCC827 lung cancer cell morphology, actin organization and signaling without triggering canonical EMT.

Researchers cultured HCC827 non-small cell lung cancer cells in medium supplemented with either 10% Human Platelet Lysate (HPL) or fetal bovine serum (FBS) to compare the two supplements’ effects on cell behavior. HPL altered HCC827 morphology, actin cytoskeleton organization, spheroid formation and signaling pathways, but these changes occurred without inducing canonical epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT).

The HPL used in this comparison was supplied by PL BioScience. The findings illustrate how a human-derived culture supplement can reveal cell-type-specific behavior and contribute to more human-relevant cell culture workflows.
