Human Platelet Lysate in MSC-EV Manufacturing

PL BioScience

This study developed a scalable MSC-derived extracellular vesicle production workflow, expanding MSCs in medium with 2.5% Human Platelet Lysate (HPL) from PL BioScience before switching to EV production medium.

This study developed a scalable workflow for producing and purifying mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (MSC-EVs), combining microcarrier-based upstream production with preferential exclusion chromatography for downstream purification. The approach addresses the need for scalable, reproducible MSC-EV manufacturing processes.

Mesenchymal stem cells were expanded in growth medium supplemented with 2.5% Human Platelet Lysate (HPL) from PL BioScience before the cells were switched to EV production medium. HPL formed part of the upstream culture foundation of this MSC-EV workflow.
