Human Platelet Lysate in Vascular Cell Culture

PL BioScience·27 January 2026·1 minute read

In this study on a dual-cell therapy for critical limb ischemia, vascular multipotent stem cells were expanded using 2% Human Platelet Lysate (HPL) from PL BioScience before combination with adipose-derived stem cells.

This study presents an adipose-derived dual-cell therapy, combining vascular multipotent stem cells (VMSCs) with adipose-derived stem cells, that enhanced arteriogenesis and supported limb preservation through vascular integration in a model of critical limb ischemia. The therapeutic effect reflects the combined action of both cell types.

Ahead of this dual-cell application, the VMSC population was expanded in culture medium containing 2% Human Platelet Lysate (HPL) from PL BioScience. HPL provided the human-derived foundation for expanding these vascular cells before they were combined with adipose-derived stem cells for testing.
